Mounds Cake is a delightful treat that combines the flavors of chocolate and coconut in a delicious dessert. Here’s how you can make it:

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of white or yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chocolate syrup
  • 8 oz. tub of Cool Whip
  • 2 cups shredded coconut

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, prepare the cake mix according to the instructions on the package.
  3. Add the cocoa powder and sugar to the cake batter, and blend well until fully combined.
  4. Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top of the cake batter.
  6. Bake the cake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and use a meat fork to poke holes all over the surface of the cake.
  8. Warm the chocolate syrup slightly, then pour it evenly over the hot cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.
  9. Cover the cake and let it cool completely, then refrigerate it overnight.
  10. Before serving, spread the Cool Whip over the top of the cake and sprinkle the shredded coconut evenly over the Cool Whip layer.
