Old Fashioned Hershey Cocoa Fudge

Homemade Marshmallow Fudge Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 and 2/3 cups white sugar
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pack (6 oz) milk chocolate chips
  • 16 marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Fudge Mixture

  1. In a saucepan, combine the white sugar, evaporated milk, unsalted butter, and salt. Place the saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Cook the mixture for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly. It should come to a gentle boil. Keep stirring to ensure the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture starts to thicken slightly.

Step 2: Incorporate Chocolate and Marshmallows

  1. Once the mixture is heated through, stir in the milk chocolate chips. Continue stirring until the chocolate chips are fully melted and well combined with the mixture.
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add in the marshmallows, pure vanilla extract, and chopped walnuts (if using). Stir the mixture thoroughly to evenly distribute all ingredients.

Step 3: Set and Cut the Fudge

  1. Pour the prepared fudge mixture into an 8-inch square pan lined with parchment paper or greased lightly with butter.
  2. Allow the fudge to cool at room temperature. You can refrigerate it for faster setting.
  3. Once the fudge has set and hardened, remove it from the pan. Cut it into squares of your desired size using a sharp knife.

Step 4: Serving the Fudge

  1. Arrange the cut fudge squares on a serving plate or store them in an airtight container. Serve and enjoy this delicious homemade marshmallow fudge!

Note: Ensure the fudge has fully cooled and set before cutting to achieve clean, neat squares.
