Toffee Pecan Dream Bars

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of yellow cake mix (standard size)
  • 1/2 cup of softened butter
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of freshly chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup toffee bits

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prepare:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, softened butter, and one egg. Blend until crumbly.
    • Press this mixture into the bottom of the greased baking pan to form the base.

    • In another bowl, mix together the sweetened condensed milk, another egg, and vanilla extract until creamy.
    • Add the chopped pecans and toffee bits to the condensed milk mixture, combining them thoroughly.

    • Pour the condensed milk mixture evenly over the prepared cake mix base in the pan.

    • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 30 minutes. The edges should begin to brown, but be cautious not to overbake, even if the center appears slightly jiggly.

    • Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and allow it to cool completely.
    • Once cooled, slice the bars into squares or bars of your desired size.
