- In a bowl, combine ground beef, minced onion, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and egg. Mix just until combined. Adjust seasonings to taste.
- Divide the meat mixture in half and form two rectangles slightly larger than 6 of the dinner rolls. The rectangles should fit over 6 rolls when they’re still connected side by side in two rows of three, like how the rolls come out of the package.
- Place the two rectangles on a cookie sheet and top with a little more minced onion. Ensure the thickness is even for even cooking. Bake at 350°F for about 12 minutes or until done.
- While the meat cooks, split the two sets of six buns down the center into bottoms and lids.
- Spread about two tablespoons of thousand island dressing on each bottom bun.
- Once the meat is cooked, blot any extra grease with a paper towel. Place the meat patties on each of the bottoms of 6 buns and spread more thousand island dressing on top of both meat patties.
- Unwrap the cheese slices and place them across all of the meat patties. Place the tray back in the oven to melt the cheese for a minute or two.
- When the cheese is melted, spread minced onion over the patties, then add pickles, lettuce, and the top bun.
- Brush the tops of the buns with melted butter, sprinkle sesame seeds, and cut the burger into individual servings.
